Education
Having progressed from the commercial to the legal side of the shipping and commodities trading industry, Tillmann learned the ropes of the industry by doing an apprenticeship as a German Schifffahrtskaufmann and became a Member of the Insitute of Chartered Shipbrokers before studying law in England and Germany. Tillmann is dually qualified as a Solicitor (England & Wales) and as a Rechtsanwalt in Germany.
Career
Before joining HMT as Legal Director, Tillmann had different commercial and legal roles on the verge of shipping and commodities trading. Tillmann’s roles were in dry bulk shipping of a commodity trader (at Pro Line Shipping GmbH in Germany), in private practice of a boutique shipping and commodities law firm (at Mills & Co Solicitors in England), and in-house in container shipping (at Hapag-Lloyd AG in Germany).
