Shipping Specialist

HM Trading is the international trading arm of the Heidelberg Materials Group, handling overseas dry-bulk products exports and imports. For our Dubai office, we are looking for a highly-talented individual as a Shipping Specialist.

Requirements:
  • University degree in Maritime Business Administration, Shipping, or a related field with a GPA over 3.00/4.00.
  • Excellent command of both written and spoken English and Shipping Terminology
  • Previous experience in dry bulk shipping operations or a similar role is preferred.
  • Self-motivated and self-disciplined team player, excellent communicator.
  • Proven track record of being dynamic, goal-oriented, highly flexible, and hardworking.
  • Able to handle stress with full dedication to work.
  • Able to work in a complex and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Good PC skills; Proficiency with Microsoft Office software – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Good negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Accurate, well organized, and punctual.
  • Understanding and accepting different cultures.
Responsibilities:
  • Assisting and supporting the Chartering Managers and Operations Coordinator with the preparation and follow-up of the operational subjects.
  • Execution of Charter Parties and operational follow-up of shipments.
  • Follow up COA shipments in accordance with the agreements.
  • Conduct Laytime calculations.
  • Follow up on daily updates and ensure recording/filing including ERP.
  • Follow up on payment requests and approvals.
  • Support the Shipping team with internal and external reporting.
  • Review the Trade Contracts and evaluate/comment on related shipping terms.
  • Close interaction with other departments (Trading, Finance, Trade Operations)
  • Co-ordination with other offices abroad
  • Other Ad-hoc requests from the Shipping Team
